As a company, we understand that our economic growth must respect the social, economic, and natural environment of the places where our activities are undertaken. For this reason, in 2010 we joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary international commitment regarding Corporate Social Responsibility. This initiative is implemented with “Ten Accepted Principles”, based on human rights, labour, environmental and anti-corruption aspects.
Every year, SEMI prepares a progress report assessing its commitment and initiatives in this area.
SEMI also follows and actively participates in the strategic policy and commitments of the ACS Group concerning Corporate Social Responsibility, especially in the following three areas of action:
- Respect for the social, economic and natural environment
- Promoting innovation and research applied to infrastructure development
- Job creation and welfare as an economic engine for its groups of interest
In addition, once a year SEMI provides the information and indicators necessary for the preparation of the ACS Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Report. This document is the compendium and summary of the main CSR policies and initiatives implemented by the ACS Group companies (Human Resources, Prevention of Occupational Hazards, R&D&I, Environment, Quality, Customer Relations and Supplier Relations, etc.).
On 30th March 2017, SEMI Group approved a Corporate Compliance Programme. The Programme is aimed at promoting a true ethical culture within the company and reaffirms the Group’s upholding of the law.
It adopts an active role in the fight against crime and thereby also adopts the technical, organisational and specific personal measures, as well as surveillance and control measures, and the appropriate penalty system for avoiding the production of infringements or illegal actions.
In this context and, in order to comply with this objective, SEMI Group has internally published the following documents:
- ACS Code of Conduct (which may be attached on the Website or a link may be provided to the ACS page).
- Crime Prevention Plan and its associated Protocols, including the Computer Code of Conduct and the Professional Courtesies Manual.
The design of the Corporate Compliance Programme includes and applies good practices on criminal risks prevention and the promotion of an ethical corporate behaviour, in line with the requirements of the Criminal Code.
Anyone who has knowledge of or who suspects any kind of non-compliance with the previous documents should communicate this through the Ethics Channel, by sending an email to canal@etico-gruposemi.com or by sending a letter to the postal address, Canal Ético, Grupo SEMI, Avenida Manoteras, nº 6, 28050, Madrid (Spain), for the attention of the Compliance Officer.
